What to include

Five things that turn a question into an answer

  • Specimen and format

    Which material, and in which state you need it — fresh, frozen, fixed, or prepared as slides.

  • Donor criteria

    Indication, diagnosis, treatment status, age and sex ranges, controls. Also what would disqualify a donor for your study.

  • Volume and number of units

    Per aliquot and in total, plus whether the material is needed in one delivery or across a period.

  • Accompanying data

    Which laboratory, clinical or demographic annotations the result depends on. This decides more often than the material itself.

  • Protocol and timing

    Collection, processing and shipping requirements, and the date the material has to be in your laboratory. A protocol excerpt is enough.

Incomplete is fine. A protocol excerpt or a rough outline is enough to start the feasibility check.
